Klinker or clinker (Available only for Export )
A brief speech about Ceramic Klinker, procedure, manufacture and suitable use.
Introduction
Extruded Klinker is one of the most resistant materials ever created. It derives from clay that is mixed with water, moulded, dried and then subjected to a slow firing - up to 26/34 hours - at a high temperature of 1250°C. This process triggers the fusion of the feldspars within materials that themselves bind the inert grains thereby giving origin to the high level technical characteristics, along with a natural and unique appeal.
History
From the beginning of the century to the 30s, Klinker, in the form of bricks, was intensely used and widespread in Holland and northern Germany for flooring and for façades of load-bearing building structures. Its quality and durability can still today be seen on many perfectly conserved Northern European buildings.
From the 30s, the load-bearing function of Klinker was taken over by the introduction of concrete load-bearing walls. But in Germany a new technique was introduced that opened new and infinitive possibilities for Klinker, the mechanical extrusion moulding of the clay mixture in smaller and lighter bricks, vertically coupled two by two.
From then the use of extruded clinker has rapidly spread throughout the world and to numerous buildings of great historic and panoramic significance. It was first used in Italy for the Art Palace in Milan, created by the designer Giovanni Muzio.
The name "clinker" derives from the Dutch "Klinkaerd" and "Klinken" meaning "to resonate".
Suitable use
Clinker has all the characteristics to be the ideal finish for floors and walls, resistant, inalterable and slip-proof. Chosen in the warmer shades, naturally softened by the firing effect, or in the more modern and vivid colours, it is able to harmonise with whatever the style and surrounding.
From the living room to service rooms, from balconies to kitchens, from stairs to arcades, externally as well as internally, with all the special pieces necessary to complete the task in all its details and with a beauty that not even the most intense use can tarnish.
Arredo Urbano or Urban Environment
Clinker has all the characteristics to be the ideal finish for floors and walls, resistant, anti-acid, inalterable and slip-proof. Forever exposed to weathering agents and the intense traffic of people and vehicles, clinker ensures public places and areas with wear-resistant and maintenance free surfaces that are able to blend in perfectly with the different architectural settings. The extraordinary colour variety of the materials can be further increases thanks to the possibility of personalising the composition with the aid of the SIGA –AOP Technical Service.
Industriale or anti-Acid
Clinker has all the characteristics to be the ideal finish for floors and walls, resistant, inalterable and slip-proof. Washed by the rain and dried by the sun, a facade tiled in clinker will always be new, unaltered by smog, U.V. rays, frost, acid rain and sudden changes in temperature, with tiles that, thanks to the swallow tail profile remain steadfast even vertically.
Civile and Larwood o Internal use
The clinker production includes a vast assortment of special pieces for stairs, an essential item for a carefully detailed planning. They are created with the same compound and colouring as that of the different floor and wall tile series, so as to create an ideal architectural and aesthetic continuity in all surroundings. A special selection has made to reproduce Wood-veining effect in various tonality that series with name Larwood it is available in the some size of other tiles.
Rivestimento or Facade Cladding
Clinker has all the characteristics to be the ideal finish for floors and walls, resistant, inalterable and slip-proof. Washed by the rain and dried by the sun, a facade tiled in clinker will always be new, unaltered by smog, U.V. rays, frost, acid rain and sudden changes in temperature, with tiles that, thanks to the swallow tail profile remain steadfast even vertically. There are many unique and definitive solutions to enhance the architectural value of any building through the highly attractive colours and surfaces.
Piscine or Swimming Pools
Clinker has all the characteristics to be the ideal finish for floors, walls, and pools, resistant, anti-acid, inalterable and slip-proof. The qualities of extruded clinker prove to be perfect for all those areas that require a non-slip surface, resistant to prolonged contact with acids and detergents, hygienic and easy to clean. Clinker fullfill the various areas of the swimming pool, from the pool itself to the showers. Through the rich variety of tiles, unglazed, glazed, in the smooth or structured versions and with numerous accessories and special pieces, highly functional, welcoming and characteristic spaces may be created.
SIGA AOP can design and create, on request, any personalised graphic motif, design and logotype for pool bases and external walls, created in Glazed lavastone or marble mosaic or design marble without format limitations.
T o assist the designer in the planning and in the assessment of the never ending details that make up the system, SIGA AOP have a technical service for swimming pools, support and assistance in the development of laying plans, constructional details, quantity calculations.
An important details
A particular peculiarity of our extruded clinker is the presence of the "dovetail" on the back of the tiles, a special knurl effect that guarantees the perfect and sound anchorage of the tile to the laying surface.
Production of clinker are 100 % Made in Italy, according to European Standard.
